Watermelon Pops

It’s scorching hot and we’re all in need of refreshing healthy snacks to keep us going and hydrated. This recipe we found could be the easiest you will ever follow but it’s an innovative idea you may not have yet thought of.

We love watermelons, they’re not only delicious but they are full of health benefits too. Watermelons are a great source of potassium. Potassium helps to control your blood pressure, helps regulate your heartbeat and has been said to even prevent strokes.  As well as potassium watermelons are packed with vitamin C and beta-carotene, which fight deseases to help keep you feeling yourself this summer.

Watermelon pops are a healthy snack that are super easy to make and can be enjoyed by the whole family. They are a great alternative to your typical ice-lolly containing high amounts of refined sugars and a perfect simple pudding for a barbeque with friends.

You will need:

  • One fresh watermelon
  •  A sharp knife
  • Lolly pop sticks
  • Dips and toppings of your choice (optional)

1.  Slice watermelon into wedges

2.  Cut a 1-inch slit into the rind of a just-cut and insert a lolly pop stick.

3.  Serve pops a variety of ways: Sprinkle with flavored salts and freshly ground pepper, drizzle with local honey and fresh lime juice, dust with red pepper, or for the adults add a splash of schnapps.

How do you like to enjoy watermelon? We would love to hear from you!
